It was built and placed in service on November 17th of 1960 by Tomas Libarena with the mean of orienting the navigation.

It was constructed by a mixture of volcanic materials from Roma , that last more than cement, which is the reason why its still in perfect condition.

It has 43 m high , and the crystal prisms that make it’s illumination system where brought from France. I works with electricity , and in case of emergency with acetylene gas. A spiral staircase with 150 allows visitors to ascend to the top through its interior.
